On September 10 – 11, Rīga, the capital of Latvia, will host one of the leading security forums in Northern Europe – the Rīga Conference. The international conference aims to kick-off high level discussions on key foreign and security policy issues before entering the intensive policy making season in the fall of 2010. The conference has continues to attract some of the world’s most respected thinkers, academics, commentators, journalists, and politicians, providing a platform for a broad intellectual exchange on the current Transatlantic agenda.

The 5th contemporary art event know as  “White Night 2010” will take place during the night of September 4, presenting 12 theatre, music, movement and visual art projects and performances. This year's event is based on two principles - “Do it yourself” and “Join in”.

The New Theatre Institute of Latvia is organising the 6th International Experimental Theatre Festival “Homo Alibi”, which this year will focus on the lecture-performance genre, presenting a number of local and international artists.

Vladimirs Leščovs short animation movie “Wings and Oars” won Special International Jury Prize at the 25th International Animation Festival Hiroshima. This is already the third prize received by Leščovs creation at this festival.
